    The Company

    My client is large software vendor. They’re very well respected in the industry and have briefed IRC to recruit a senior IT sales executive.

    They have a range of different software products for information management in the construction sector. Their solution is used by some of the large contractors in the market and has then cascaded down through to builders, contractors and design houses. They have a a successful IT sales team, each focussing on either a vertical within the construction market or a geographical patch. Their IT sales has a very low attrition route and rank very highly as a ‘great place’ to work.

    They bought a payment costing business one year ago. The solution has now be re written and can be added as a module to their existing client installs. This role is selling their project costing solution into both new lgo and existing accounts alongside their existing IT sales team.

    The solution is cloud based and essentially gives all included parties access to the central costing information around a project. The software also handles the payments between each element of the supply chain.

    The average IT sales value will be £250k – £500k.

    The year one IT sales target is £500k

    My client is a Yorkshire based software vendor who’ve been going from strength to strength. They grew by 20% last year. They have briefed IRC group to find another IT sales person to add to their stable, successful IT sales team.

    They have a fairly open mind as to the background of the IT sales person they’ll recruit as long as applicants have a proven track record in IT sales in the software market.     My client is a leading provider of contact centre software solutions. Many companies in this sector are still talking about ACD switching; my client is talking about integrated solutions covering call, social and media conversations. Their IT sales people are doing extremely well and they have briefed IRC group to find a senior IT sales person as one of their new business IT sales people is moving into Account Directorship having closed a monster deal.

    The Role

    A typical contact centre solution from my client is made up of 70% in house written software, 15% third party software product and 15% telephony hardware. They can also host the whole solution and so deals range from £250k – £750k.

    This is a new business IT sales role and whist they are looking for an IT sales person able in generating new business, they do have a very strong telemarketing and PR team generating leads and softening the ground in the contact centre sector.

    Their target client is any user that has more than 100 contact centre operatives. They cover a range of verticals across both the private and public sector.

    The year one IT sales target will equate to four sales. They have detailed information about close rates and it’s expected that the IT sales person is the ‘man/woman on the ground’ and they’ll organise the rest of the company resource around them to support them in the deal.

    This is an outstanding opportunity to join a ‘challenger’ in the professional services market place. They are a large business already and are heading into their next phase of growth. They have some very strong IT sales people, earning well in excess of £250k per year and have an elite selection criterion. This is the place to be if you want to enter into or build upon IT consulting experience. They are innovative, have a super slick brand and have briefed IRC group to find 1, possibly 2 IT sales people.

    They sell managed professional services, typically over a 3 to 5 year deal agreement. Their key message is transformation to the cloud, typically built around Azure, AWS or Oracle. It’s worth noting that they do no host client data.

    This is a new business IT sales role. The marketing support is excellent.

    My client is quite open as to the level of the IT sales person and the solution stack sold and amount of support will depend on the level (and package) of the IT sales person they recruit.

    At the ‘junior’ end of the spectrum the client will consider most IT sales backgrounds as long as the IT sales person can demonstrate that they have the intellect and drive to sell complex IT services.     My client is an expert in cloud services, specifically remote backup and DR. Their solution is build around industry leading technology and they are one of the most highly regarded partners in that arena.

    The Role

    My client is a Northern IT services and cloud provider. They were established just over ten years ago and have had very solid growth. They have slowly migrated their sales model from 100% direct to now being 100% channel. Clearly, the channel IT sales model is often a difficult one to get right but these guys seem to have managed it!

    The have now briefed the IRC group to find a senior IT sales channel manager, to develop and then win more channel partners.

    Partner Profile

    The IT sales channel manager’s most fruitful source will be selling into companies who are general IT VARS. This may be the ‘big guns’ at the top of the VAR 100 list but they have plenty of smaller VARS who resell my client’s expertise.

    The typical IT sales value varies between £100k per year to £300k per year. Naturally they do have some smaller deal sizes in the mix. Most of the contracts are over 3 years.

    My client is a large software vendor. They have several different divisions, mainly divided by the different product streams the client has. They have some very successful IT sales teams and some of the highest earning IT sales people I’ve come across in 17 years as an IT sales recruiter.

    My client is a large software vendor. They are very well established and widely renowned as having one of the most advanced solutions in their, not least because it’s cloud based, well priced and integrates easily into current software applications.

    This is an Account Management role, managing 5 very large contractors. The contractors themselves are synonymous with the public sector and you will have seen their branding all over the UK.

    The application itself is a management tool, allowing the contractors to manage their workforce and their workforce’s workloads when they service their end user; the public sector. The IT sales solution is modular based and covers asset management, financials, document management, HR and payroll and workload management.

    This role is to increase the footprint in the contractors themselves as well as build a strategy (in line with the rest of the group and their IT sales function) to use the contractors as a route to their ned users, creating an environment where their end users subscribe their their software.

    My client has a range of ancillary IT solutions (often sold individually by some of the other IT sales people in the group) to add to the existing software application.     My client is a software vendor. They have been established for over 30 years. They’re wholly owned and financially stable. They regularly compete with three other large and very well known software vendors and very regularly win more than their fair share.

    Their software provides the linkage between the EPOS hardware at the front ed and the ERP and delivery at the back. This is a supply chain product for the retail market. They are the vendor and their solution is feature rich and cutting edge.

    The Role

    This is a new business IT sales role. The IT sales team benefit from an internal IT sales support team, booking appointments and finding leads, a superb marketing team and the simple fact that they’re an obvious shortlist choice when a retailer is looking for software.

    The average IT sales values can vary from £250k – £500k and the IT sales team have closed deals in excess of £1mn. It’s worth noting that this is a not a high volume, high transaction environment; this is an environment where the sales team work with a small number of well qualified prospects.

    This is a home based, self managing IT sales role.

    Candidate Requirements

    You must have a proven track record in IT software sales. You must have sold application software (retail software IT sales, ERP software IT sales, CRM software IT sales, e-commerce software IT sales, etc) and it would be ideal but not essential if you have sold to the retail market.

    The Role

    This is a new new business IT sales role focussing on the sale of ERP software to the retail sector. They cover all aspects of retail including grocery, fashion, online and general white goods. Their solution is cloud based and the average IT sales value is around £500k for three years.

    The software includes business intelligence software, integration into Microsoft Dynamics CRM software and naturally has its own finance engine.

    The Role

    IRC group has been placing IT sales people for over 10 years and I have focussed on placing ERP IT sales people for 17 years. In that time I’ve spent around 50% of my time focussed on placing ERP IT sales people and built a very god client base and reputation in the market. Therefore, when the top Microsoft partner in the UK comes to market to recruit, they use IRC Group.

    This is an Account Director’s role managing either a clutch of three recently won Microsoft ERP clients or one huge recent win (the client has headcount for two IT sales people.).

    In both instances, the clients have recently been won and phase 1 has been installed. This role is take to take the clients through phases 2 and beyond, both for more ERP solution and integration into and sale of related Microsoft products.

    The initial IT sales value on these deals was fairly hefty (ranges between £500k – £1mn) and the expected revenue from the three ‘smaller’ clients (they are still very big) is around £500k per year and the larger client £1.2mn. (All of the these figures are margin based).

    My client is one of the leading brands in their market. They have an international client base of tier one retailers and boast some of the most well known brands in the market. They were established in the late seventies and have achieved an almost unparalleled level of success.

    This client is unusual in as much as they are an international, market leading business with a UK head office in London.

    The Role

    This is an IT sales role managing 30 key accounts. All of the accounts have an old version of the software and this role is to manage them, sell services and small upgrades but to really focus on moving them to the latest, SaaS based solution. The other IT sales Account Managers haven’t struggled to do this with their accounts given the solution is better, it’s cheaper and it’s cloud based with a generally more modern feel and use.

    The average IT sales range is around £100k. Naturally, this varies from client and some of the IT sales team have closed £1mn + deals given that many of the client are large multinationals.

    The software itself is a complete management and production tool for retailers who make and sell their solutions (i.e. rather than retailers who sell a range of third party consumer brands). They sell as either individual business line units or often bid on £Mn+ solutions deals incorporating many of the different product lines.

    My client also has a large nearshore software development facility. They currently have one nearshore IT sales people and this service line has proven to be very successful. It sits alongside the more expensive UK based service delivery team offering a slightly different perspective to reach the same outcome.

    The services covered around mainly around software development, systems integration and ling term, on going support. My client does have a lot of expertise in the IoT (internet of things) market and as such many of the development services are development services to meet the IoT agenda.

    Their nearshore capability is also supported by an offshore capability and this IT sales role will be to focus on selling a blend of these solutions.

    The Role

    This is a new business IT sales role selling into new logo clients but also accounts held by other IT sales people from the business who sell a different solution (hardware, software, etc).

    The IT sales target will be £1.4m margin and the typical IT sales value is £400k. Clearly there is scope for the deals to be much bigger and the current IT sales person has closed several £1Mn+ deals.

    The Role

    This is a new business IT sales role selling legal software. The software manages all parts of the legal practice covering case management, document management, accounts, workflow and CRM software. Their IT sales force focus on the mid sized legal companies who typically have around 50-100 fee earners across all of the majors types of law.

    There is superb marketing support for the IT sales team that take the form of telesales, marketing, demand generation software and trade show and events.

The difference between each division and their respective IT sales teams are the function of the applications.     The Role

    This IT sales role is to lead with Oracle JD Edwards EPR solution. The role is selling both license and services, with the main focus and margin being from the services element.     My client sell ERP software. They have a number of products that sit around the core solution and this role is selling supply chain software.     This client has been at the forefront of converged voice and infrastructure for years and years. They were years ahead of voice automation and years ahead of soft phone integration into business systems. They have always been considered to be a leader and they still retain that position.

    They are now recruiting for a senior Account Director to manage around forty five very large corporate clients. They sell a mix of solutions to fulfill a contact centre need and my client explained that he thinks there is a five-six year refresh for their type of solution offering and as such he’d expect someone to have around six-seven large deals per year.

    The solution s all about software and software integration. My client occasionally sell the contact centre hardware but have little interest in it. Their USP is their ability to work with and integrate software, both proprietary and Microsoft’s range of CRM and connectivity solutions.

    The deal size varies and my client explained that his IT sales team are now closing IT sales deals in excess of £1m. They have one IT sales person who earned more than £100k in one month last year. This was an exception but it’s certainly very attainable.
